Beigh too favor coordinated efforts to facilitate dialogue | Blames politicians for pushing youth to militancy | | Early Times Report Jammu Mar 23 : Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Beg, Wednesday said that mistakes of politicians forced Kashmiri youths to pick up guns. Initiating discussion on the demands for grants of the departments under the charge of the Chief Minister, Beigh advocated dialogue and reconciliation to sort out Kashmir issue. “90 percent of the people, who were killed in last 20-years, were innocents. Everybody among us is duty bound to facilitate dialogue to find a solution to the vexed issue of Kashmir and insulate the State from incurring financial and economic loss.” “Coordinated efforts cutting across party lines in this direction will bear positive results,” he added. Beigh said that even leader like late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was ditched. “The politicians in the state made mistakes and youths had to pay a price for that. The mistakes forced some people to take up arms,” he said. Beigh said both India and Pakistan will have to invest in the development to the mutual benefit of their citizens instead of making huge investment on stockpiling weaponry and strengthening army prowess. He disagreed with the rationale of holding police recruitment rallies in specific areas, saying the government should have at least publicized the events to ensure larger participation of the youth. He assured full support of his party to the government in taking big and historical initiatives on political and development fronts for the State. Stating that it was necessary to win the hearts of the separatist leadership before involving them in any meaningful exercise, he said the government should not slap PSA on them indiscriminately.
