Punjabi play marks day nine of drama festival | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 24: Balraj Sahni Punjabi Rangmanch Jammu staged its suspense laden play ‘Maikoo Kari Karende Ni Mae’ at Abhinav theatre here on Thursday as part of Cultural Academy’s on going drama festival. Play focuses on the plight of women in a tribal society. The story of the play revolves around the murder of one Hussain Khan who is believed to have been murdered on the pretext of having an illicit relationship with a fellow tribal woman. Though initially the local Panchayat projects the killing as a routine incident, trouble begins when it is forced by circumstances to show the guilty woman with whom Khan had illicit relations. How the tribe tackles with the issue and what unfolds during the entire episode following the killing of Khan is what ‘Maikoo Kari Karende Ni Mae’ is all about. Play saw some beautiful performances by ace actors like Satbir Kour, Anupama Sharma, Manpreet Kour, Inderjeet Singh, Mohammed Javed and Manjeet Singh among others. ‘Maikoo Kari Karende Ni Mae’ was directed by Dr. Jasmeet Kour while Shahid Nadeem had written it. The music for the play was composed by Ashraf Ali.
