Political Sciences enter semis of cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, March 24: Department of Political Sciences today made it to the semifinals of the inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu (JU) underway at University grounds, here. In the quarterfinal played today, Political Sciences defeated Kathua Campus by a narrow margin of four runs. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Political Sciences set a target of 158 runs for the loss of six wickets in stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Kathua Campus could not chase and fell short of four runs to the opponent total. Raees was main contributor from Political Sciences with 46-ball 65 runs while Sunil contributed 29 runs. From Kathua Campus, Rajinder took three wickets. Later, Kathua Campus could not reach the required total and completed their 20 overs quota for 153 runs with one wicket in hand. Virender and Lalit were top scorers with 38 and 32 runs respectively. From Political Sciences, Mazahir and Pawandeep took two wickets each. In another match of the day, Department of Mathematics defeated Department of Bio Technology by seven wickets. Batting first, Bio Technology bowled out for 85 runs in 16.3 overs. In reply, Mathematics chased the target making 88 runs in 11.4 overs losing three wickets.
