JAMMU, March 24: Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 15th battalion today clinched women’s kho-kho, volleyball and kabaddi titles in the ongoing inter-battalion sports meet of Jammu and Kashmir Armed/IRP Police at Gulshan Ground, here.
Though there was lesser participation in women’s team events, still IRP 15th had clear edge over the opponents in all the three finals played today.
In men’s events, as against the domination of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP), the IRP battalions have maintained an upper hand in both team and individual events of both men and women sections.
Meanwhile, as per the organizers, the medal ceremony in individual events of boxing and athletics shall take place tomorrow so as to minimize the burden on the valedictory function.

KHO-KHO WOMEN: IR 15th Bn clinched the women’s kho-kho trophy outplaying JKAP 6th Bn by four points in the final played today. Earlier, in the semi-finals, JKAP 6th defeated IR 12th while IR 15th beat IR 19th.
VOLLEYBALL MEN: In men’s volleyball event, JKAP 9th and IR 6th today qualified for the final. Earlier, in the semi-finals, JKAP 9th beat IR 11th 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 24-14) while IR 6th trounced IR 8th 3-2 (25-17, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20).
VOLLEYBALL WOMEN: IR 15th Bn lifted the women’s volleyball title outplaying IR 19th in straight sets (25-12, 25-11) in the final played today. Earlier, in the semi-finals, IR 19th got walkover IR 12th while IR 15th awarded walkover KAP 6th.
KABADDI WOMEN: The IRP 15th Bn clinched the women’s kabaddi trophy after the side outplayed JKAP 6th by a margin of seven points with final score on board being 38-31.
FOOTBALL: Semifinals line-up has been drawn in men’s football event with the entry of IR 9th, IR 4th , IR 14th and IR 8th into the last four stages. The Results: Quarterfinals: IR 9th beat JKAP 8th 2-0; IR 4th beat JKAP 5th 5-0; IR 14th bt JKAP 14th 3-0; IR 8th bt IR 18th 1-0.

BADMINTON: R K Bhat shall take on Ajay Sharma in the final of men’s badminton event meant for Gazetted Officers. Earlier, in the semi-finals, R K Bhat defeatd Vipin Chandran in straight equal sets 21-11, 21-11 while Ajay Sharma defeated Zakir Hussain 21-05, 21-10.
TABLE TENNIS: Zakir Hussain and Sheikh Mehmood won their respective matches in GOs table tennis event. In the matches played today, Zakir defeated R K Bhat in straight sets 25-20, 25-18 and Sheikh Mehmood registered easy 2-0 (25-08, 25-11) win over Ranjeet Singh.
