Arangements for Navratra fest reviewed

KATHUA, MARCH 24- Keeping in view the ensuing Navratra festival commencing from 4th of April, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Zahida Parveen Khan convened a high level meeting of officers here today.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Kathua, M.S. Sheikh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, SDM, Billawar, Jatinder Kumar Singh, SDM, Basohli, P.L. Atri, SDM, Bani, Rajinder Kumar Sharma,, RTO, Kathua, Assistant Commissioner(Revenue) Dr. Vikas Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildars of Bani/ Basohli/Billawar/ Hiranagar, Chief Education Officer, Kathua, Executive Engineers of PWD, PDD, PHE, Executive officers of municipal committees, Officers from police, Fire services, Traffic and representatives of Mandir committees were present in the meeting.
The DDC reviewed all the necessary arrangements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the yatra at different Goddess shrines located in the district viz transportation, sanitation, adequate drinking water, un-interrupter power supply, first aid facilities, quality of eatables and their rates besides security arrangements in the present scenario were discussed in the meeting.
It is worth mentioning here that Kathua district is bestowed with a good number of Goddess shrines viz Sukerala Mata at Sukerala, Mata Bala Sundrui at Sundriukote in tehsil Billawar, Mata Maha Kali at Jasrota, Mata Asha purni at Kathua town, Jourian Wali Mata and Dhoula Wali Mata in tehsil Bani, Mata Bal Sundri at Nagri , Sheetla Mata temple at village Hottar of tehsil Billawar and many others which attracts lakhs of devotees from in and out side the state during Navratra period.
While expecting heavy rush of devotees the DDC directed the RTO Kathua to ply additional buses for the yatries. She directed the traffic department to take effective steps for avoiding over loading, over charging by the vehicle operators.
The police department was directed to make adequate security arrangements at all the shrines. Medical department was directed to make available necessary medical facilities at all the shrines with life saving drugs first aid along with team of doctors.
The DDC directed the AC development for the repair of bridle paths leading to the Goddess shrines. The PHE department was directed to ensure regular supply of drinking water at the shrines. The PDD department was also directed to ensure un-interrupted power supply to all the shrines. Barricading for the benefit of devotees was also discussed in the meeting. The DDC directed the AC Development and Concerned BDOs that tracks leading to the shrines be fully checked and cleared particularly to Jourian wali mata and Dhoula Wali Mata.
In the meeting, the DDC directed the Executive officers of Municipal committees to ensure cleanliness in the towns particularly around the shrines. The DDC constituted committees comprising of concerned SHOs, Tehsildars, CAPD officials to check the quality of eatables along with their rates.. Zahida Khan exhorted for displaying of rate lists of each essential commodity at the shops so that the shopkeepers may not over charge from the customers. DDC directed the fire service department to keep fire tenders ready to meet any eventuality
The members of management committees projected various problems and demands for which the DDC directed the concerned officers for their
mitigation.
The DDC directed to make fool proof arrangement well in advance at all the shrines located in the district.
