| Jail supdtt Mirza held for arranging Nago's meetings over phone with supari killers | | Amandeep murder | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 24: In yet another blot on the J&K police force, the alleged active involvement of jail superintendent Mirza Salim Beigh has figured in facilitating contact of jailed Nagar Choudhary alias Nago over phone with supari killers of Jammu, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh to eliminate witnesses in Amandeep murder case.
Mirza was arrested in the case and put behind the bars, IG DilbaghSingh and DIG Farooq Khan told a press conference here this evening.He had gone to New Delhi and was arrested from the railway station here at about 3.45 pm after he alighted from a train, they added.They said Mirza's name figured during the interrogation of Sunny Choudhary alias Sunny Baba, who was apprehended from Jhajjar Kotli on March 15 last.
Baba, arrested on a tip-off, was on his way to Katra to allegedly kill a businessman there. A German revolver and its four rounds were recovered from him.
The IGP said it was Mirza, who allegedly used to arrange Nago's meetings over phone from inside the Kot-Bhalwal with supari killers outside.
Nago, an accused in Amandeep murder, was lodged in the Kot-Bhalwaj jail of which Mirza was the superintendent. He was transferred to Udhampur district jail few months back.
Dilbagh and Farooq said Mirza was in knowhow of everything as the deal of Rs 1 cr was struck by Nago with different gangs of supari killers in his presence inside the jail.
Rs 50 lakh had been paid in advance to buy sophisticated weapons from outside the state.
The two officers said sharp-shooters from Mumbai and UP were also hired to eliminate witnesses in Amandeep murder. They stayed in Jammu for few days and laid nakas several times to kill witnesses, but they could not succeed and returned, they added.The IGP said on November 21 last when Giri was killed in a police "encounter" in the marble market area on Greater Kailash link road, Sunny had fled the spot.
He said with the help of Mirza, Nago was keeping a close watch on the activities of witnesses from the jail through the local contract killers.
Mirza had turned out to be the main accused in the case, the two officers said, adding the supari killers were tasked to eliminate witnesses in his presence.They said his sustained interrogation was in progress.
Surinder alias Chotu, a jail cop, and his brother Sunil alias Pinky, were also arrested in this case on Baba's disclosure. Pinky runs a sports goods shop in front of police station at Kachi Chawni. |
