Mega World Theatre day celebrations from Mar 27 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 25: To celebrate World Theatre Day-2011 in a big way and attract the global attention, Natrang Jammu is organizing a five-day theatre festival commencing from March 27 at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. This was informed today by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur in a press briefing where he dwelt in detail about the celebration programmes of World Theatre day. At the very outset, he said that World Theatre Day means a lot to Natrang as the whole theatre community was looking at Natrang, Jammu being an Internationally known theatre group . This year’s celebrations which will continue till March 31 will feature five plays and interestingly in five different languages viz English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri. Since these are world celebrations, Natrang has chosen to open the celebrations with the World classic Comedy ‘Box and Cox’ written by John Meddison Morton in English under the direction of Balwant Thakur. This will be followed by yet another world classic ‘Game of Chess’ written by Kenneth Sawyer directed by Neeraj Kant. On third day of the festival, Sahadat Hassan Mantoo’s Urdu play ‘Intzaar’ will be staged under the direction of Sumeet Sharma. The fourth plays will be the Hindustani adaptation of Punjabi play ‘Heer Kaa Dukhant’ written by Harsaran Singh, directed by Neeraj Kant. The festival will conclude with Balwant Thakur’s Dogri play ‘Gatte-Eh Mannu’. The opening show will be organized as per the regular Sunday Theatre programme at 12 noon and rest of the shows will be organized at 5 pm daily at Natrang Studio theatre, Jammu.
