| HC notice to govt, others for not allowing BJP MLAs to hoist Tricolour at Lal Chowk | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 25: In a petition filed by BJP MLAs that they were not allowed to hoist national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Republic Day this year, high court judge, Justice Hasnain Masoodi has issued a notice to the state government.
The notice was issued through chief secretary, home commissioner, deputy commissioner, Jammu, advocate general, SP (south), Bishnah tehsildar and DSP Mohan Lal Kaith.The petition was filed in the court by BJP MLAs -- Chaman Lal Gupta,
Ashok Khajuria, Bharat Bhushan, Baldev Raj, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Sukhnadan Choudhary, Durga Dass and Lal Chand.
The petitioners have prayed the court to issue a direction to chief secretary and home commissioner to hold an inquiry and find out at whose behest, their fundamental and statutory rights were crushed. It was also prayed for issuance of direction to the respondents to compensate them for flagrant abuse and infringement of their
fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 21 and 19 of the Constitution of India.
They also sought the registration of a case under the relevant RPC sections for their "abduction and wrongful confinement" by police.
