Two-day seminar on POK from March 27

JAMMU, Mar 25: The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies, University of Jammu (JU) is conducting a National Seminar on `` Pakistan Occupied Kashmir: Internal Dynamics and Externalities” on Match 27 and March 28 at Executive Convention Centre of the Business School of JU.
The seminar will be graced by eminent strategists and luminaries who will generate discourses on the internal dynamics and geo-politics of POK. It would primarily focus on the constitutional status, political developments, state of economy, various resistance movements, sectarian violence and human rights violations in POK.
As the domestic issues of POK are strategically linked with its geo-politics, the seminar would seek to debate the POK and its strategic importance with its extended neighborhoods.
The seminar would also like to take a close look on the Chinese presence and her involvement in POK. The event, which would be spread over two days, would cover the historical and political developments in POK, its economy on day one. On day two it would seek to discuss various resistance movements, sectarian violence and human rights violations in the region, the Geo-Political and strategic importance of PoK and apportion a sharp focus on the Chinese presence and involvement in the area..
The event would conclude with a panel discussion on ``The POK Imbroglio and Options open to India”
Lt Gen K T Parnaik, GOC-in-C Northern Command (UYSM. YSM) will inaugurate the seminar whileas Prof Varun Sahni, Vice Chancellor of the Jammu University will preside over the inaugural session.
Some prominent personalities taking part in the seminar include Prof Sanjay Chaturvedi, Prof Alka Acharaya, Srikant Kundapalli, Capt Alok Banal, Dr Mathew Joseph, Ved Bhasin, Prof Rekha Choudhary, Prof K N Pandita, Bashir Manzar, Sohail Kazmi, Pradeep Dutta and former DGP M M Khajooria.
