SP sent to 4 days police remand, his bank account spills beans
Arrested PSO paraded; Rs. 15 lakh, revolver recovered

JAMMU, Mar 25: A day after the arrest of former Superintendent Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Mirza Salim Ahmed Beg, police today nabbed his then Personal Security Officer (PSO) with a revolver and Rs 15 lakh contract money (Supari) from city of temples here.
Court today sent Beg to four days police remand. He was arrested yesterday for facilitating contractor Nagar Singh alias Nago to establish contacts with Supari killer gangs from Central Jail to get witnesses in Amandeep murder case eliminated. Police today arrested his PSO with a revolver and Rs 15 lakh.
However, arrest of his PSO (jail cop), presently posted at Civil Secretariat and recovery of two revolvers, was reported by Early Times on March 16, 2011 and he was paraded before media today. Sources further said that disclosure was made after going through the bank accounts and laptops of former Jail Head. The transaction done by him during his tenure in Central Jail revealed his out of source income. His other sources of income were also on probe, sources informed.
Interrogating team had also listed some names of bank, jail and judicial employees through whom the transaction was done. They would be grilled to reach out the depth of the case, sources added. Addressing a press conference at Police Station Channi Himmat, Superintendent of Police SP City (South) Rajeshwar Singh informed that police team investigating 'Supari killing' case today arrested a Jail cop from his Ustad Mohalla residence following disclosure of kingpin of 'Supari killer' gang Sunny Baba alias Sumit Choudhary alias Salim Sheikh, son of Romesh Bawa alias Baba Jat of Nai Basti that he had kept a weapon and contract money (Supari) with jail cop and close confident Salim Beg.
Police team comprising of SHO Police Station Channi Himmat Inspector Ajay Jamwal, SHO Police Station Nagrota Inspector Sajjad Parvez and SHO Police Station Miran Sahib Inspector S.S.Jasrotia under the supervision of SDPO East DySP Mukesh Kakkar conducted raid at the house of Jail Constable Surinder Kumar alias Chotu, son of Ram Lal, a resident of House number 204 Ustad Mohalla and arrested him.
One revolver and Rs 15 lakh, which Sunny Baba had given to him before his escape after Rakesh Giri's encounter outside Satyam Resort at Trikuta Nagar, was also recovered from his possession, he added. SP said that Chottu, who was presently posted at Civil Secretariat, used to provide weapons and contract money to 'Supari Killer' gangs' behest the behest of Nagar Singh.
He also used to provide Nagar Singh his mobile phone who in turn gave him money to strike deal with Supari killers of Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh besides some locals to get witnesses in Amandeep murder case eliminated. Nago had given him Rs 50 lakh to hand it over to 'Supari killer' gangs for execution of their task, Rajeshwar Singh said, adding that as first installment, he had given Rs 15 lakh, while Rs 10 lakh was given as second installment to the criminals.
Out of Rs 50 lakh, police managed to seize Rs 15 lakh from Chottu. SP assured that rest amount would be recovered soon as interrogation of arrested jail cop is on. Police sources said that SIT produced Mirza Salim Beg before the Executive Magistrate, who granted four days police custody remand. Meanwhile, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) sent Sunny Baba to four days police custody in case FIR number 44 of 2011 under section 3/25 Arms Act.
It is notable to mention here that police yesterday claimed Mirza Salim Ahmed Beg was arrested from Jammu Railway Station, soon after he alighted from train after his visit to Union Capital on March24 morning.
