Simula wins opening tie in Rajiv cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: Playing with first class cricketers, Dhruv Mahajan and Ram Dayal, Simula XI won the inaugural match of the 2nd Rajeev Gandhi Memorial Cricket Tournament beating Bantalab Cricket Club by 110 runs at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Simula set a big target of 187 runs for the loss of three wickets in allotted 20 overs. Hilal Rather was top scorer with 33-ball 60 runs. Batting second, Bantalab Club could make only 76 runs after the whole side bowled out in 14 overs. Ram Dayal claimed four wickets from Simula XI. In all, 22 teams are taking part in this knock-out tournament. As per the organizers, a league-cum-knockout competition for under-14 boys shall also take place simultaneously. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), SSG of J&K Police, J P Singh who was chief guest on the occasion. He also gave away uniforms to four under-14 teams of Stadium XI, Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy, Young Guns United and Hari Cricket Club. This tournament is being organised by the Young Star Cricket Club under the supervision of club secretary, Vikram Singh.
