Sham asks medicos to redouble efforts to maintain top slot

JAMMU, Mar 26: Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the doctors and Para-medics to redouble their efforts to maintain the status of top slot secured by the department in the primary healthcare.
Minister was addressing doctors, Para-medics and ASHA workers at a one day NRHM Sammelan organized by District Health Society at Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University today. Lauding the performance of the department during past two years, Minister said that everyone from top to bottom has contributed for achieving the tough goals and it is expected that they will maintain tempo and accomplish the unfinished tasks in years to come.
Maintaining that medical is noble profession, Minister asked doctors to work with dedication and missionary zeal to uphold the dignity of this occupation. He said that commercialization of this noble job should not be done mere for petty material gains as service to mankind is service to God.
He said that government is initiating various reforms in the department to create better working environment in the health institutions with a view to provide appropriate space to the doctors and other staff. In addition, he government has resolved long pending issues of fixation of seniority of doctors remove stagnation in the cadre and enhancement of incentives to NRHM doctors, Para-medics and ASHA workers.
Mission Director, NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma in his address said that the Mission has organized six such Sammelan in Jammu division to popularize the NRHM programme so that benefits of the scheme percolate down to the needy. The objective of holding such seminars is to make aware all those associated with the implementation of this flagship programme about its various components and to gather necessary feedback about the bottlenecks coming in the way of its implementation.
Director Indian System of Medicines (ISM), Dr. Abdul Kabir, Project Director, State AIDS Control Society, Dr. Wasim Qureshi, Director Health Services, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Dr. Baldev Sharma, large number of doctors, Para-medics, ASHA workers of Jammu district were present on the occasion.
