Sir, Sir...Sarla staged at Abhinav theatre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 26: As part of Cultural Academy’s drama festival 2011 Natya Karmi’s play Sir, Sir...Sarla was staged at Abhinav theatre here on Saturday. Sir, Sir...Sarla is a story about three individuals and their collective life. Prof. GP Palekar, Sarla and Fanidhar are the three persons around whom the story of the play revolves. What Sir, Sir...Sarla shows is that Sarla loves Prof. Palekar but on the recommendations of Prof., Sarla marries a businessman Keshav by name, who according to Sarla is a mismatch. The play starts in flashback mode with a focus on the past life experiences of the three main characters. What unfolds in the lives of the three individuals during the course of the play is all Sir, Sir...Sarla is about. The play had Danesh Dogra in lead while Gurmeet Batra, Arun Sharma, Vijay Goswami and Raman were the other characters in the play. Written by Makrand Deshpande, Sir, Sir...Sarla was directed by Vijay Goswami. Meanwhile in another function held at Cultural Academy’s Srinagar office contemporary trends in Urdu short story were discussed. As part of the function Mushtaq Mehdi’s latest short story collection “Angan Main Woh” was also released. During the book release function well known broadcaster and writer Satish Vimal read a paper on the emerging trends in contemporary Urdu short story. Others who also spoke on the occasion included chief editor Urdu, Mohamed Ashraf Tak, noted writer Ghulam Nabi Khayal and Prof. Majeed Muzmir.
