EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: Foiling bids to smuggle bovine animals to the valley, police today arrested four persons along with 51 cattle. Twenty three bovine animals were seized when these were being transported in trucks (JK02J/4125 and JK02M/6892) near Batote in Ramban, according to police sources. Eighteen animals were seized when these were being smuggled on foot to the valley, the sources added. Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid of Banihal, Mohammad Iqbal, son of Habibullah of Mazhama, Qazigund, and Mohammad Shakeel, son of Mohammad Yaqoob of Chanderkote, were arrested in this connection. Meanwhile , Samba police arrested Jamait Ali, son of Rehmat Ali of Ragora, Jammu, while he was trying to smuggle 10 cattle in a truck (JK02AG/5095).
