Legislators not happy with Omar’s style functioning | Bickering on rise in coalition, some Cong ministers | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: With internal bickering on rise among the coalition partners in the state a section of Congress legislators and ministers are not happy with the functioning of Omar Abdullah Government Though the party High Command in Delhi has issued directives to its state leadership to provide full cooperation to the young Chief Minister of the state in completion of his six year term as head of NC –Congress coalition, but according to party sources majority of the ministers and legislators are fed up with the style of functioning of the Chief Minister. A senior congress leader and former Minister on condition of anonymity said that Chief Minister holding the charge of planning Ministry was supposed to be present in the budget session but for the last four days he is not here causing an embarrassing situation for the Government in the House, he added. Referring to today’s walkout by PDP on the transfer of Rs 30 crore from Srinagar to Jammu under CRF, he said that Chief Minister who holds the charge of R&B Ministry could have better explained the matter to the House than the Parliamentary Affairs Minister. The CRF is not for a particular district or region but for the works in entire state. It is the State Government which submits plan for expenditure to centre and on the basis of that proposal the next installment is sanctioned to the state, said a former Congress Legislator. There is no question for transferring funds from one district to another district, he said, adding if the money was transferred to Jammu the same can be compensated by getting more additionalities from the centre. On the recent statement of Chief Minister that e tendering will be called in R&B and other departments looked after by him, he said how can the e-tendering be called in far -flung areas of the state like Gurez, Tangdar, Kargil, Machil, Warwan and Chatroo. He, while questioning the claims of the Government and Chief Minister said crores of rupees were spent on renovation by Estates Department in Jammu, Srinagar and Delhi and the tenders were not called for all these works. Before making the claims the Government should go into ground realities and basic facts, he said, adding the Congress under the chief ministership of Omer Abdullah has been the worst loser. According to sources a large section of Congressmen even the ministers in coalition are fed up with the style of functioning of the Chief Minister and term the three years rule of PDP leader Mufti Mohammed Sayeed who headed a coalition with Congress from 2002 to 2005 as the best Government which state has ever seen. There was total transparency in Mufti’s Government said another former Congress minister, adding the thousands of employees were appointed by him and there were total directives to fill up the posts on complete merit basis. But there is no such directive from present Government which has made a mess of every thing.
