No compensat in for Jammu even after 60 years | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 26: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Harsh Dev Singh said today that Jammu region is subjected to ‘discrimination’ and ‘deprived of funds’ in every sector for the last sixty years but never gets compensated for the same. Addressing media persons outside the Legislative Assembly Complex after staging a walkout over ‘discrimination’ issue, Harsh Dev said, “Today during the proceedings of the House, PDP raised the issue of diversion of Rs 30 crore to Jammu …. And the government immediately announced the remedial measures in the shape of additionality of Rs 30 crore to compensate the loss.” He said Jammu is facing ‘discrimination’ for the past 60 years, but never been treated at par with Kashmir in any matter. Harsh Dev said, "The Finance Commission in its report has indicated that Jammu is being discriminated…. The report says that out of 29 government departments, 28 in Jammu did not get their due share…. Jammu, too should be compensated on the same analogy…. When will the government announce compensation for Jammu after the finding of Finance Commission and how the region would be compensated for the losses it has to face due to the unequal distribution of funds.” JKNPP leader said a Special Task Force was announced over alleged 'discrimination' with Jammu but it has also not done justice as the Task Force proposed a sum of only Rs 150 crore for the Jammu region. It has failed to do away with the discrimination with Jammuites. “The Task Force Report is a cruel joke with Jammuites ….. We denounce and condemn the recommendations of the Task Force as Rs 150 crore is not a satisfactory amount to be utilised in development of 10 districts of Jammu,” Harsh Dev said. He also blamed Jammu-based legislators and Cabinet-ranked Ministers in the Omar-led coalition government for not standing in support of the region.
