KOLKATA, NOV 13 The UPA government is set to place the Women's Empowerment Bill in the coming winter session of Parliament beginning November 22, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunshi said today.
"The Centre is committed to ensure power, rights and 'Maryada' (honour) to the nation's women and all set to place the Women's Empowerment Bill in the winter session of Parliament," Dasmunshi, also the Information and Broadcasting Minister, said.
He said that consensus had been achieved among all political parties for its smooth passage in both the houses.
The Minister was speaking while inaugurating a sound-and-light programme 'SHATROOPA', organised by the I and B Ministry's Song and Drama Division, near Kasba in south Kolkata.
The programme depicts women's might and rights.
Director of the newly-launched cultural show, Shatiwala, said his group, on an average, staged 30,000 shows each year on women's empowerment theme. |
