Sprite gully cricket in Jammu from March 1

JAMMU, Mar 27: Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla today faced the first delivery to formally launch the campaign for entertaining `Sprite Gully Cricket Champs Season IV’ in Jammu.
Minister, who was chief guest in the launching function, also distributed Sprite branded balls to the young cricket enthusiasts gathered at cricket hub of Parade Ground this morning.
Spread over 11 states and 27 cities across four zones of the country, the championship shall start simultaneously on April one. In Jammu, likewise last year, 32 teams will be short listed out of over 1000 entries received bye SMS.
The first round shall be of one over each side. It will be followed by six-over a side games in the per-quarterfinals under flood lights. The quarterfinals, semifinals shall be of eight overs each.
“The winner of the Jammu edition shall be rewarded a cash prize of Rs one lakh while the runners-up shall get Rs 50,000. In addition, the winner shall proceed for knock-out tournament at zonal level and the team winning the zonal matches will receive a mega cash money worth Rs five lakh,” informed general sales manager, J&K, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited, Sanjay Munshi.
In all, five lakh cricket enthusiasts from 11 states and 27 cities of the country would be involved in the cricket extravaganza.
Speaking to the gathering of young cricketers, Raman Bhalla appreciated the efforts of Coca-Cola India in promoting cricket at grass root level in a very entertaining manner.
The championship is open for all young players between the age of 15-35 year.
