DGP XI wins by 26 runs in Rajiv Cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27: The DGP XI today registered a comfortable 26-run win over Star Cricket Club, Bantalab to move into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Memorial (T20) Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here. Earlier, batting first, DGP XI set a target of 138 for the loss of four wickets, which, in reply, Star Club could not chase and completed their quota of overs for 112 runs losing nine wickets. Naresh was top scorer with 56 runs while Ateev Saini contributed 24 and Suman Koul 22 to the team’s total. Sonu took two wickets from Star Club while Sukhvinder Paul and King Ji shared apiece each. Batting second, Star Club could manage only 112 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Chotu (24) and Neelu were main scorers (15), while Anil and Raju added 14 runs each. From DGP XI, Rajesh Gill and Bhupinder claimed two wickets each while Naresh, Sahil and Arshid claimed one each. For his superb performance, Naresh was adjudged man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Striker Cricket Club defeated Young Guns by a big margin of 134 runs. Batting first, Striker made 214 runs for the loss of four wickets. In reply, Young Guns bowled out for just 80 runs thereby suffered a humiliating defeat. Young Soumay Jain was instrumental in Striker’s big win by making an unbeaten century contributing 109 runs to the total. He later clinched four wickets to reduce opponent to partly 80 runs.
