SR College conducts IAS-SCAT Mock Test | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27: SR College of Competitions, in collaboration with Civil Services Chronicle group, has started an All India Mock Test Series for the Civil Services (IAS) aspirants. To begin with, first such test was conducted at the premises of S R College of Competitions Gandhi Nagar involving over 100 young IAS aspirants from the state. “The purpose of the test series is to make the students aware of the latest changes introduced by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the Civil Service Preliminary Examination. The test has been conducted simultaneously in 20 major cities of the country so that the students can assess their level of preparation by knowing their respective position in the test series at the all India Level,” Director S R College of Competitions, Parveen Sharma told SAN. The Union Public Service Commission has changed the pattern of the preliminary examination by dropping the optional subject and replacing the same by an aptitude paper. The purpose of the change in the format of the question papers, as per the experts, was to test the aptitude of Civil Service amongst the candidates. The aptitude paper consists of questions relating to comprehension, interpersonal skills including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision making and problem solving as also general mental ability. “Test series has been prepared in tune with the new syllabus. The test series comprises 12 Mock Tests and 14 Assignment tests. The test series has been prepared very meticulously keeping in mind the UPSC trend of the last five to six years. Test series is being conducted under the supervision of Civil Services Chronicle group experts and the faculty of SR College of Competitions,” said Parveen adding, “The effort is to provide the most expected questions predicted by our well known experts. Civil Service Chronicle group, a leading and popular magazine for Civil Services students, has been guiding the students for the last 21 years”. The SR College of Competitions has been performing the pioneering task of guiding and counseling the Civil Services aspirants of the J&K State, over last more than 10 years. “This joint exercise of the chronicle group and SR College has been appreciated by the aspirants because this has been done for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir. The response was overwhelming as large number of students participated in the Mock Test,” informed Sharma.
