OBCs hold one-day convention to discuss many issues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27 : A day-long convention of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) was held at R. S. Pura today in which the Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. Vice Chairman, OBCs Advisory Board Kuldeep Raj Verma and Vice Chairman Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board Bashir Naaz were also present. On the occasion, Sharma said that the constitution of Advisory Board for the Development of OBC and Kissan is a land mark decision of the state government with which the problems of these sections can be redressed. The formation of Advisory Board for OBCs Development was appreciated by various speakers. A demand was made to enhance reservation and also pleaded for raising creamy layer slab from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh which has been implemented by the Central Government. A plea was made for change of nomenclature from OSC, SLC to OBC. The other demands included reservation of OBC in State legislature, corporations and panchayats as also reservation to OBC women and also grant of scholarship to all OBC students without Income bar. Those who spoke in the convention and highlighted the problems of OBCs included Members State Advisory Board OBCs Rakesh, Mukhtiar Kalia besides Kuldeep Raj Gupta, and others.
