| Smuggled timber seized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 27: The Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora in assistance with district police today seized a large quantity of timber smuggled in the compartment No.144. The smugglers had axed 33 green Kail trees in the compartment measuring about 1613 sqft.
Of this, the administration was successful in seizing 350 sqft whereas the remaining quantity of timber was smuggled by the smugglers.
The police has arrested some smugglers in this connection and the hunt is on for nabbing remaining offenders. A case has been registered in the police station.
Meanwhile on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, all the employees posted in the compartment have been put under suspension for their negligence in performance their duties.
