‘Ghair Zaroori Log’ staged in Annual Drama Festival | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 27: Amateur theatre group today on World Theatre Day presented highly acclaimed play ‘Ghair Zaroori Log’ on 12th day ofTheatre Festival organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and languages at Abhinav Theatre complex here .. Directed by Mushtaq Kak the play reflects different shades of theatrical elements and newly developed techniques. ‘Ghair Zaroori Log’ not only presents a profile of our for narrow interests that destroy humanity at large. A play, written by Shahid Anwar and based on Saadat Hasan Manto’s Urdu short-stories, Ghair Zaroori Log stirs the collective memory of the audience through the experience of Manto to locate a specific political, social and cultural setting where an artist and his creations both turn into persona non-grata. Taking a cue from the six of best known stories of the iconoclast, the play not only presents a profile of our time but also makes a scathing comment on our misdemeanors with humanity. It underlines the politics of boundaries which tend to disown the very people who are in fact the real constituents of any civic order. The stories represented through the characters of Manto include some of his masterpieces such as Toba Tek Singh, Sugandhi, Babu Gopi Chand and Mummy.
