Kishtwar without hostel facility for students: Sheikh Nasir

Jammu, Mar 27: Udhampur, Youth Congress leader Sheikh Nasir Hussain Advocate has demanded hostel facility at district headquarter Kishtwar for students hailing from far flung areas of the district. In a meeting of youth congress and NSUI activists held at Kishtwar youth congress leader said that it is disheartening to see that in one of the largest district of the sate there is not even a single hostel provided by the government. He said that there are higher secondary schools, colleges and other institutions like ITI and DIET where not only the students of Kishtwar town but hundreds of students hailing from far flung areas like Padder, Bonjwah, Dachhan, Marwah, Warwan, Palmar and Chatroo are studying, but in absence of hostel facility they are facing lot of problems. Sheikh Nasir said that thousands of students hailing from far flung areas are unable to continue their studies due to absence of facilities like hostel etc. He further said that district Kishtwar has a very huge population of Gujjar bakerwal, Sc, ST and other backward classes but there is not even a single hostel for Gujjar Bakerwal or other classes at Kishtwar. Sheikh Nasir informed that the students from outside are facing difficulty in getting accommodation at Kishtwar as due to migration from villages there is shortage of accommodation and poor students are facing problems in getting affordable accommodation as they have to pay extra.
Youth Congress leader has appealed the government to solve the problems faced by students and provide hostels at district headquarter Kishtwar.
Among others the meeting was addressed by Yassir Rashid, Jalal-ud-din, Vijay Kumar, Ajaz Hussain, Saddam Ali, Ajay Kumar and Nadeem. Who also demanded that the state government should provide hostel facilities to the students and also to ST, SC and BC students. It was unanimously decided in the meeting that a memorandum in this regard will be presented before the administration and it will be requested to place the same before the concerned authorities for getting the demand fulfilled.
