| Annual Garden Competition conducted at Udhampur Garrison | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur, Mar 27: Annual Garden Competition for the year 2011 was conducted at Udhampur Garrison under the aegis of Headquarters 71 Sub Area on Sunday. Anagha Parnaik, President Family Welfare Organization Northern Command graced the prize distribution ceremony and complimented all the participants. The competition was held in multiple categories of institutional and individual gardens, potted plants and flower arrangements. Keenly contested, the event displayed the ecological commitment of the Armed forces towards environment, care of Mother Nature and efforts to handover a beautiful earth to the posterity. Varied variety and extravaganza of colours, textures and hues rightly made the task of the judges difficult. Criterias like : Layout, neatness, surrounding area and health of plant were also considered for the competition.
Indian Army has always been conscious towards the environmental issues and has done remarkable greening of India, especially in the remote and rugged terrains. The zeal, dedication and enthusiasm displayed by the green fingers in the said competition reaffirmed the commitment to the cause by all ranks of the Indian Army.
