2 rly labourers among 3 killed in separate incidents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 27 : Three labourers, including two who were engaged by Konkan railway project in the construction of a bridge over river Chenab in Reasi, were killed in two incidents here today. Police sources said two labourers were killed when a cable car collapsed at an under-construction railway project in Reasi.They were engaged by AFCONS construction company in the construction of a railway bridge across Chenab at Kodi Bakal in Reasi, the sources added. Sources said the incident occured when a cable broke apart and they fell from 1 140-ft high tower, resulting in their instant death.The were identified as Abdul Rehman (35), son of Mohiudin, and Juma Baksh (36), son of Mohammad Shakur, both residents of Dwara Kala in Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh. The bodies were shifted to the Reasi district hospital mortuary where post-mortem was conducted on them. Later, these were handed over to their family members for last rites. Police had registered a case in this connection.The AFCONS project manager Vijay Pai said the two labourers had died due to the snapping of the cable.Meanwhile, another labourer was killed after he fell from the rooftop of Sagvi wood factory at Bari Brahmana.He was identified as Mohammad Arif, son of Alahdin Sheikh of Banihal. A case in this connection was registered at the Bari Brahmana police station. |
