Release crop compensation in Hiranagar tehsil: Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 28: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua has been advised to immediately disburse relief and compensation in favour of rightful claimants for crop compensation in Hiranagar Tehsil. This was stated by Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla while replying to a question by Subash Chander Gupta in Legislative Council today. He said that an amount of Rs. 1.31 crore pertaining to the crop compensation is lying with Tehsildar Hiranagar while adding that Deputy Commissioner Kathua was advised to release relief / compensation in favour of all such rightful claimants / occupants who were in possession of the state land in 2004 or prior to that and entered as such in the Girdawari. Minister said that Deputy Commissioner, Kathua has again taken up the matter with Defence Estates Officer, regarding payment of crop compensation, in view of Ministry of Defence’s letter dated August 21, 2003 wherein it has been provided that the cultivators who are in authorized as well as un-authorized occupation of state land will not be eligible for any crop compensation for Kharif crop and subsequent crops as they are not the owners of the land and they did not so crop. Survey and settlement operations are going on in the state with the use of modern technology ETS (Electronic Total Stations) and so for 2153 villages have been covered under operation record of rights of 1509 villages completed and deposited. Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla gave this information while replying to a question by Sheikh Ghulam Qadir Pardesi in Legislative Council today. He said that the central government department of land resources has launched a programme of National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) in September 2008 throughout the country for implementation.
