Jat community seeks representation in LC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 28: All Jammu and Kashmir Jat Sabha appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to give representation to the Jat community in J&K State Legislative Council. In a press statement issued here today, Ch Piara Singh, president of the Sabha said since no representation in National Conference and coalition government has been provided to the Jat community so far, the community appealed Chief Minister to give representation to community in Upper House. He mentioned that from time to time in J&K state, political representation has been provided to the jat community by the successive State governments. Reminding the previous instances, Piara Singh said, “In 1996, BJP had given representation to Jat community as two leaders from the community were given seats and registered victory including him and Choudhary Chuni Lal and same in 2008 two Jat leaders namely Sham Choudhary and Sukhnandan Choudhary were given seats and elected for which the community highly thankful to BJP”. However, during PDP regime Jat community member T S Bajwa too was elevated to Rajya Sabha which was a historic step taken by PDP and its leadership. The community members urged upon the Chief Minister to give representation to Jat Community member in Legislative Council.
