Jammu migrants meet BJP MP, list demands

Jammu , March 28: Shouting slogans against the government and in favour of their demands, Jammu migrants today staged protest demonsration at Mubarak Mandi. BJP Rajya Sabha Member Avinash Khana along with Dr Nirmal Singh also visited the dharna site . He was Informed that their woe has not been listened by both state and the centre governments.
Ghulam Moeudin Beg, organiser of Tehreek-e- Insaf said that they have no food, shelter and clothes. He accused the state government of ignoring the militancy affected people of Jammu and forced them to come on roads. He said militancy victims of Jammu region are at the edge of starvation and government has failed to mitigate their sufferings.
He informed the MP that Doda migrants are on dharna-protest for last five years but nobody paid any heed toward them .
Ravinder Raina General Secretary of TeI, reiterated the demands of militancy affected people of Jammu regarding constitution of a high level committee to assess the losses suffered by the terrorism hit people of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Reasi, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts. He demanded an economic package for affected people and reservations to their wards in the educational institutions especially in professional colleges.
Rakesh Sharma, Youth president of TeI said due to terrorism in the state, thousands of families have migrated from hilly areas of Jammu region since 1990. These people faced atrocities from the militants and they have started a campaign to enlist the losses of lives and properties in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts.


Assuring the agitating migrants, MP Avinash Khana assured the victims to raise their issue in Parliament and in human rights commission .
