Guru ji a great social reformer and saint: Tara Chand | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 29 – Describing Guru Ravidass ji as a great saint and social reformer, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said Guru ji was among the pioneers of Bhakti movement and through his teachings fought against the social evils and dogmas prevalent in the society. He said great saints and seers of the country have shown the righteous way of living based on mutual co-existence, love and devotion to the supreme lord. Tara Chand was addressing a mammoth gathering of Guru Ravidass Jayanti function held at Bella Zamana, Pargwal here today. The function was held as part of 634th birth anniversary celebrations. Calling upon civil society at large to follow the path shown by our great Munis and Rishis, the Deputy Chief Minister said that real tribute to the saints is to adopt their teachings in life and work for establishing an egalitarian society. He said saints besides preaching for a spiritual way of living, also taught for establishing a class less society in which all human beings are equal before the god and nobody is supreme by birth. Listing various social sector schemes launched by the government, Tara Chand said with the active support of central government a number of welfare schemes have been launched in the state, so as to provide succor to those living below poverty line. “The government is committed to work ameliorate the lot of the marginalized and all our efforts are afoot to take the development revolution to all nooks and corners of the state,” he added. Later, a religious sermon was delivered by Swami Gurdeep Gir ji Maharaj from Pathankot.
