| Naresh declares 4th softball Championship open | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu: Mar 29: MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta today inaugurated 4th State level Softball championship here at Parade Ground Jammu. The Championship was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Soft Ball Association.
As many as 11 teams, comprising two hundred contingents are participating in the championship.
Honorary General Secretary, Kashmir Soft Ball Association. C. L. Bhat and other functionaries of the association were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Naresh said that sports not only keep the youth fit physically, but if pursued with interest and dedication can fetch name and fame for an individual.
Appreciating the efforts of the organizers for introducing and promoting the game in the State, Naresh said that there was a need to launch a campaign to attract more youth towards this game. He asked the organizers to hold such events in rural and remote areas of the State to encourage maximum youth to take part in this game.
Earlier, the organizers brief MLC about the endeavors being made by them for the promotion of the game and sought Govt’s help to make this game more popular among the youth. Naresh assured them that the matter would be brought in the notice of the Government so that such championships are organized at Government level across the State.
He advised the players to show utmost interest in the game and hone their skills so that they can prove their metal not only at national but also at International levels. He said players need to participate in the game side by side studies to keep themselves physically fit.
Later, a memento was presented to Naresh as a token of respect and honour by the organizers.
