Big 8-wkt win for Law School | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 29: Law School registered a big eight-wicket win over Department of Dogri to pave way for the next round of the inter-department cricket tournament of the University of Jammu (JU) underway here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Dogri Department set a target of 117 runs in the 15-over a side game losing eight wickets. In reply, Law School chased the total in just 8.5 overs for the loss of only two wickets. Rajnish and Shiv Kumar were main contributors with 26 and 16 runs in their respective accounts while extras contributed highest 49 runs. From Law School, Farooq and Arshad took two wickets. Batting second, Law School overhauled the opponent total rather easily making 117 runs for the loss of two wickets sparing 6.1 overs of their innings. Sami Ullah and Rameez contributed unbeaten 63 (off 29 balls, 13x4) and 26 runs respectively. Rajnish took one wicket from Dogri Department.
Sanskrit beat Engilsh by 7 wkts
In another match of the day, Department of Sanskrit trounced Department of English by seven wickets. Batting first, English bowled out for 78 runs in 13.2 overs. Pawan and Inam contributed 20 and 14 runs respectively while Surinder added five-ball 12 runs. From Sanskrit Department, Mahesh, Umesh, Sunil, Jeevan and Rahul took one wicket each. Later, Sanskrit chased the total making 84 runs in just 7.2 overs for the loss of three wickets. Rahul made 16-ball 23 runs while Umesh faced just eight deliveries to make 23 runs. Chander claimed two wickets from English Department. Today’s matches were officiated by Vijay Dogra, Raj Kumar and Rajeev Sharma while Sat Pal was scorer.
