Dr Koul appointed PDP spokesperson | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Mar 29: Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti, Tuesday appointed leading cancer surgeon, Dr Sameer Kaul, as spokesman of the party. Dr Koul had joined PDP in the first week of this month in the presence of PDP patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba. Dr Kaul is presently senior consultant surgical and clinical oncology at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. Expressing his gratitude towards PDP leadership for giving him an important responsibility as spokesman of the party, Dr Kaul said that he would try to put forward view point of the party in the rest of the country so as to involve the people for debate and discussion on PDP’s policies and programmes. “Being spokesman of party at New Delhi, I will also try to involve leaders of different shades of political opinions to discuss view point of PDP,” Dr Kaul said. He said that he has decided to join the politics to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir through the political field and PDP is the best platform to work for the betterment and upliftment of the people and to strengthen a composite culture in the State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular. Hailing from Wazirbagh in Srinagar, Dr Kaul did his MBBS from Government Medical College Srinagar. He did his post-graduation in head and neck surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. NC for inclusion of Kashmiris in Indo-Pak dialouge Home Sec level talks fruitful: NazirSrinagar, March 29: Advocating inclusion of Kashmiris in the dialogue process, the National Conference General Secretary, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Tuesday, termed the ongoing Home Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan as ‘fruitful.’In a statement, Nazir said, “Both the countries are promise-bound to resolve Kashmir and as such it will be unwise to keep the issue lingering on," He said a set time frame for solution to Kashmir issue is a must for the success of the dialogue process.Nazir said the involvement of Kashmiri representatives is imperative in the dialogue process aimed at resolution of the issue. “This will help in finding an everlasting solution to the Kashmir issue," he said.The NC General Secretary expressed hope the leadership of India and Pakistan will keep the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir in mind while taking the dialogue process to its logical conclusion.Commenting on the four-point formula of the former Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, he said it had created a golden opportunity for resolution of the issue but it was ‘wasted.’Nazir said Kashmir is a ‘political issue’ and "our party views restoration of internal autonomy as a formula to address it." However, he said the ruling party in the state has time and again made it clear that it is ready to accept any other better solution to the issue.
