Security beefed up on Mohali encounter eve | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 29 :- Security has been beefed up in the state to ensure peace and order on Wednesday when India plays Pakistan in the second semi-final of ICC World Cup at Mohali Wednesday. According to official sources the government had to deploy additional troops after Pakistan Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Geelani accepted Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh’s invite to witness the match with him. Sources said policemen in civvies have been deployed at various areas to keep a check on militants and their over ground workers. Patrolling along the Indo-Pak border has also been intensified to foil possible infiltration bids by militants. The officials believe that the militants and their supporters have always indulged in subversive activities whenever any dignitary from foreign countries including Pakistan visited New Delhi or during any talks between the two sides. Police and paramilitary forces have been directed to take into custody anyone found to be engineering some protest rallies or demonstrations. They have been told to ensure that militants, operating in Jammu and Kashmir, were not allowed any liberty in attacking soft targets to divert the attention of the word from talks to violence.
