Jammu, Mar 29: Even as all political parties, with the exception of PDP in Kashmir, have yet to make public names of their candidates to fill up six vacancies in Legislative Council, two of Congress party's senior functionaries today collected nomination papers from the Assembly Secretariat.
Informed sources told Early Times that former Deputy Chief Minister, Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma, and former Minister incharge Social Welfare, Abdul Gani Vakil, who is one among six outgoing MLCs, today acquired one set each of the nomination papers from the Assembly Secretariat. While as one-time President of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Mangat Ram Sharma, is likely to be fielded by Congress in a seat in Jammu, Vakil would be the party's candidate on a safe seat in Kashmir.
