Panthers chief seek release of PoK, Pak prisoners | | | EARLY TIMES Jammu, Mar 30: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh today spoke to one Mohd. Ayyub, s/o Sher Khan in village Tahi, Poonch in PoK and was informed that three persons, Alam Sher, Bakat Hussein and Sakhi Mohd. who were detained in 1965 for intruding into J&K have been detained in district Jail, Jammu. This information was given to the Supreme Court of India which is hearing the writ petition of Bhim Singh against the illegal detention of PoK and Pak prisoners in different Indian jails without trial. Pak families were jubilant on receiving the information that dear ones are still alive. Bhim Singh in his submission to the Supreme Court sought a direction to the Union of India for the release of these prisoners so that they may be able to rehabilitate themselves for their remaining lives back in their homes. There are 254 Pakistani prisoners in different Indian jails, most of whom have completed more than 20 years in different jails without trial. The Panthers Party Chief, also requested the court to direct the Government of India to respond to the magnanimity shown by the Govt. of Pakistan by releasing one Gopal Das back who was undergoing life sentence for past 27 years. The case may be listed next week before the Division Bench of the Supreme Court.
