J&K Assembly suspended early ahead of Indo-Pak semis clash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 30 : Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, which resumed two hours later from its scheduled time, was suspended half-an-hour earlier on request of the Legislators ahead of the India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal to be played at Mohali today.
BJP MLA and Legislature Party leader in the House Chaman Lal Gupta appealed the Speaker to suspend the House earlier as the members were keen to watch the Indo-Pak World Cup semifinal.
The legislator said it is not only the matter of match between India and Pakistan, but also an initiative between the two nations towards dialogue and peace. Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) senior leader Harsh Dev Singh suggested the Chair to extend the Assembly Session by a day, which is concluding on April 1. Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone while addressing the House said, "as all members have requested for early calling off of the proceedings to watch Indo-Pak cricket semifinal, the House is suspended and would resume tomorrow morning at 1000 hrs."
