| Full Court reference under Chief Justice | | | Jammu, November 14 - In a full Court reference under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice B A Khan, rich tributes were paid to Rounaq Singh, Advocate, who passed away here on November 12, 2006. While paying tributes to late Singh, Justice Khan said that after the move of Darbar to Jammu, we are meeting on the sad note of demise of Thakur Rounaq Singh adding that ‘the legal fraternity has last one more stalwart. ‘We miss all our elders one by one and it becomes difficult to fill up the void created in the process. We all pray that his soul may rest in peace and God may give his family members courage to bear the loss.’ A two- minutes silence was observed in memory of the departed soul. Besides, Chief Justice, Justice Nirmal Singh, Justice YP Nargotra, Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain and Justice JP Singh of the State High Court and Judges of Subordinate Courts including Principal Sessions Judge Mr. Subhash Chander Gupta, Registrar General Hasnain Masoodi, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice Javid Kawos, Registrar Judicial Mr. DK Kapoor, Registrar Protocol Mr. Jang Bhadur Singh Jamwal, Registrar Vigilance Tariq Naqshbandi, Deputy Registrar Judicial Mr. VC Koul were present. Advocate General Mr. AH Naik represented the State. President BAR Association Jammu Mr V R Wazir and a number of Bar members were also present at the full court reference. Thakur Rounaq Singh was born in 1913 in village Kishanpur Jandrah of Tehsil Jammu in a respectable family. He did his graduation from Prince of Wales College (presently GGM Science College) and later qualified his MALLB in 1947 from Lucknow University and started his career as a teacher and then opted for practice of law and was enrolled as pleader in April 17, 1957 and then Vakil on January 8, 1960 .He was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court in April 1, 1968. He practiced both in High Court and Subordinate Courts. He was a simple, state forward and a thorough gentle man. Thakur Rounaq Singh was also part-time politician and was Member of Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council also and thereby he was lawmaker as well. It is worthwhile to mention here that immediately after hearing about the death of the Advocate yesterday the BAR Association Jammu immediately suspended the work as a mark of respect.
