BAJ strike to continue today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, March-30:- Bar Association Jammu strike against proposed registration Amendment Bill shall continue tomorrow (March 31) for the second consecutive day. This was decided in ameeting of the BAJ held today. The General Body meeting unanimously resolved to lodge a strong protest against the amendment bill as it purports to take away the powers of registration of documents from Judicial Officer to the Executive Officers. BAJ believes that the proposed Bill is only aimed at facilitating the land grabbing Mafia in the state. The meeting held that the Bill amounts to direct inference in the independence of the judicial institution and also directly affects the general public by keeping them at the mercy of executive officer. According to the General Secretary Advocate Vikram Sharma that various Bar Associations including Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Bhaderwah, Rajouri, Noushera, Poonch, Thanamandi, Surankote, RS Pura, Samba, Kathua and Ramban also protested against proposed amendment in the Registration Act by abstaining from appearing in the courts and extended full support to the Bar Association Jammu in this regard.
