| SDM clamours for preserving Green Cover in Dudu Basantgarh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jakhed (Dudu Basantgarh), March 30 – An Awareness Camp was organized in Jakhed area of Dudu Basantgarh by Directorate of Forest Protection Force, J&K in which lot of emphasis was laid on preservation of sparkling forest cover in entire Sub Division under the guidance of SDM Dudu Basantgarh Mr. Amit Sharma who is spearheading the holistic vision of green mission alongwith environment preservation. The best feature of this Awareness Programme at Jakhed was that on the insistence of SDM, it became an interactive session in which the flow of information happened from both ends. Since there was a huge strength of public of all age groups from Latti, Didi Beggar, Pachound, Pachound No.II, Kirchi, Dudu and Bandhole areas who attended the programme, in spite of dicey weather conditions and the prevailing election atmosphere in which their representatives also expressed their views about afforestation and the initiatives they have taken to save trees in the Sub Division.
SDM Amit Sharma also cautioned the general masses alongwith various wings of Forest Department against recurrent forest fires which occur during upcoming summer season and all necessary measures should be in place well in-time for countering such fires in future. Similarly, the green cover available alongwith water streams and mountainous ranges like Seoj Dhar in the beautiful and unexploited hilly terrains of Dudu Basantgarh which are primarily the tourism and trek spots in Sub Division should be preserved with total commitment and resolve of the local masses.
