Over 12 hurt as cricket match revellers clash with police | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 30: In a clash between police and youth, who were celebrating victory of India over Pakistan in the cricket world cup semi-final match at Mohali tonight, at least a dozen persons were wounded at Residency Road here. Soon after India defeated Pakistan, scores of youth gathered on Residency Road and started dancing and bursting crackers. However, when they marched towards Shaheedi Chowk, which adjoins the Muslim dominated Talab Khatikan locality, police blocked their way and asked them to go back. While cops tried to push them back by using lathies, they stoned them, resulting in injuries to some of them. Some revellers were also wounded in the police action. Police sources said some cars, parked by the roadside, also suffered damages due to stone pelting. When reinforcements arrived, the youth dispersed and melted into the nearby lanes and bylanes. The ding-dong battle between the two sides continued for over half an hour.
