PIMS exam fraud: Inquiry Committee submits report to VC | College puts career of over 250 students on stake; involvement of JU officilas not ruled out | | Mishu Gupta Jammu, Mar 30: The examination fraud committed by the management of Priyadarshani Institute of Management Sciences (PIMS), affiliated college of University of Jammu (JU), with its students was not a smaller one but a deep conspiracy putting the career of more than 250 students at stake. The fact has been established in the preliminary report submitted by the 3-member inquiry committee constituted by the Vice Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni on Monday. The committee submitted its report to Vice Chancellor today. According to sources, the committee has recommended that affiliation of PIMS be cancelled with immediate effect. And, the rehabilitation of the affected students should be done to ensure justice with them. The committee found that PIMS management was indulging in this fraud since a year. Even the BBA and BCA first and second year students were promoted to the next class despite the fact that majority of them had failed in two or more than two papers. But, the college management befooled them with fake marks certificate obtained on the pretext of reevaluation. However, in the University record all of them were shown fail. The college didn’t even send the Registration Records of the students to University. To hide the misdeed, the college management decided to conduct the fake examination. To give original look to the examination, the management arranged few people who visited the examination centre as members of flying squad. The college had decided to follow the same practice during the upcoming MBA and MCA examination as well. The committee has also not ruled out the involvement and support of University officials and suggested the Vice Chancellor to go in for indepth probe into the whole episode to ascertain the name of culprits. Besides, the incompetent monitoring and controlling from the office of College Development Council was equally responsible. And, the process is required to be strengthened to avoid the repetition of such an event. Through this fraud, the college has duped over Rs 2 crore of the students. And, put the career of over 250 students on stake. The committeehas asked the University to rehabilitate the affected students as per eligibility and their merit. For this soon a Rehabilitation Committee would be announced. The students would be shifted to other colleges to complete their studies. However, the students who were enrolled without being eligible would have to face the axe.
