BJP national secretary takes on-the-spot assessment of scams, scandals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Mar 31: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary and former Member of Parliament Kirit Somaiya paid one day visit to Jammu for an on-the-spot assessment of scams and scandals in the state in order to initiate a country-wide campaign on the issues. Somaiya interacted with party’s state office bearers and senior leaders at a meeting which was presided over by state president Shamsher Singh Manhas. At the meeting, it was decided to constitute a team for the purpose with chief spokesperson and BJP national executive member Jitendra Singh as its convenor. Jitendra Singh also handed over to Kirit Somaiya documents containing data and details about some of the major scams related to land encroachment, education department and cases against politicians and bureaucrats pending with Accountability Commission and Vigilance Organization. The newly constituted team will hold regular meetings for follow up, pay visits to various parts of the state and submit its findings to the central office through national secretary Kirit Somaiya. The important issues that came up for discussion included option of litigation, media investigations, campaign through media, TRIs, Public Awareness through rallies, meetings, interactions. It was also decided to take up issue of foreign bank accounts of leaders from J&K state. Somaiya, while addressing the meeting said that he has been assigned the job by party’s National President Nitin Gadkari to visit different states and collect information related to scams, scandals involving people at high places as well as prominent political families. He said that the party is committed to expose the corrupt elements throughout India and all such cases will be brought to the notice of the people with authentic proofs. Among those who attended this meeting included Chander Prakash Ganga, Satish Sharma, Sat Sharma, Usha Choudhary, Kavinder Gupta, Shilpi Verma, Ramesh Arora, Nirmal Kamal, Balbir Ram, Munish Sharma and Sanjay Khanna.
