| Cosmo Club emerges state champion in Softball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 31: Cosmo Club defeated district Jammu 9-8 homes in a close contest to lift boys’ title in the 4th State Softball Championship played at Mini Stadium Parade ground, here today.
Third place went to district Samba. In all, 11 districts and clubs of the state participated in the state championship.
Earlier, in a well contested final, Cosmo Club prevailed over Jammu district team to clinch the championship. Harvinder Singh scored three homes for the winning team while Madan Mohan, Ashwani and Aman made two homes each. From Jammu district team, Vishal Singh Chib made three homes, Rawat two while Anil, Varinder and Pradeep made one each.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Cosmo trounced Srinagar by three homes to two (3-2) while Jammu defeated Srinagar by (10-3).
In the girls section, Jammu got first place, Anantnag second and Kathua third.
In the final and prize distribution function, Member Legislative Council (MLC), Vijay Bakaya was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Mohd Ayaz Khan, MK Yogi, Sindeep Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Dhar, Mohd Aslam, Mohd Sultan, PL Talashi, Naveen Sharma and general secretary, J&K Softball Association CL Bhat.
