11 POK guests arrive in Kashmir, only 2 cross over to other side | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Mar 31: As many as eleven more guests from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) arrived here this afternoon while only two Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) in the weekly Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad. Five returnees also crossed side at Kaman post, the Indian military post, in Uri sector, official sources told. They said the number of guests from POK has started increasing with the arrival of summer after harsh winter, when the temperature dropped to lowest minus seven degree. They said eleven guests, including three women and 3 children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu bridge on foot on the LoC this afternoon. This was the highest number of guests from POK since January this year. The earlier highest during 2011 was ten on February 2. Two residents of the Kashmir valley, who had crossed over to other side in previous buses also returned to their homes after completing stay in POK. However, only two residents of the Kashmir valley—a woman and a child—crossed over to other side to meet their relatives in POK. Three POK residents, who completed stay in the valley also crossed over to other side of the LoC in the bus. They included two women. The service was started on April 7,2005 to enable the families divided in 1947 to meet each other. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh flagged off the first bus service from here in presence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi despite a fidayeen attack in the city a day earlier.(
