J&K to open 1000 more LPG sale outlets: Akhoon

JAMMU, Mar 31: Centre has sanctioned 1000 new LPG sale outlets for the state which shall be opened in demanded areas.
This was stated by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Qamar Ali Akhoon. He was replying to a question by Peer Afaq Ahmad in the Legislative Assembly here today.
However, he said opening of new LPG sale outlets has been stayed in the court, adding that as soon as the stay is vacated, these centres would be opened. He said that more LPG sale outlets would be opened in Srinagar city accordingly.
Replying to a question by Peer Afaq Ahmad in the Legislative Assembly here today, the Minister said that at present 14 LPG sale outlets are functioning in Srinagar city, out of which, the two gas agencies are functioning in Zadibal constituency.
Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather today said that state government has requested Union Home Ministry to coordinate with BSF for ascertaining actual border length in the border areas of the state, so criteria for allotting funds to border block under BADP would be re-visited in state level screening committee. He assured that concerned MLAs would be taken into confidence while formulating the new criteria.
This was stated by the Minister while replying to the supplementaries raised by several members on the main questions by Sham Lal Choudhary and Ashwani Sharma in the Legislative Assembly here today. Earlier, in reply to the main question by Ashwani Sharma, the Minister of State for Planning and Development, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma informed the house that BADP funds are released to the border blocks on the basis of parameters which include length of International border, LOC of border block, population and area of the block.
Members, Radhey Sham Sharma, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, Gharu Ram Bhagat, Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Zulfikar Ali, Durga Dass, Mir Saifullah, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, Abdul Haq and Nizam-ud-Din Bhat raised the supplementaries to the main questions and demanded inclusion of their border areas under BADP.
