Bar Association calls on FM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 31 - A delegation of the Bar Association of J&K High Court Jammu, led by B.S. Slathia met the Finance Minister in context of the amendments proposed by the Government to the Registration Act, Samvat, 1977 (1920 AD) for which a Bill has been introduced in the current session of the Legislature. The Bar Association expressed their apprehensions about the amendments proposed by the Government to section 3 of the Registration Act, whereby a provision has been made for appointment of Additional Inspector General of Registration, Joint Inspector General of Registration and Deputy Inspector General of Registration. Allaying their apprehensions, the Finance Minister told the Bar Association that the amendment proposed to section 3 of the Registration Act, in no way comes in the way of the process of registration, which at present is being done by Registrars and Sub-Registrars under section 7 of the Registration Act. It was further clarified by the Finance Minister that with the proposed amendment, the Government under section 3 of the said Act, does not propose to alter any powers by way of either acquisition of new powers or by altering the powers already vested in the Government under the said Act. Those who accompanied Salthia included Usman Salaria Vice President, Vikram Sharma General Secretary, S.K. Anand, D.K. Khajuria, Sardar Daljeet Singh, Sunder Singh, C.M. Sharma, Pawan Mani, D.S. Chouhan, H.C. Jalmeria, Ajay Kotwal (Bapu), Minu Koul, Ajay Sharma and Rohan Nanda, Advocates, called on the Finance Minister A.R. Rather here today.
