Army donate computers, basket ball court

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Brigadier Gurdeep Singh, Commander Krishna Ghati Brigade, on the behalf of Army, donated two computers each to Salotri and Nambal Primary Schools and inaugurated a state of the art Basket Ball court of Salotri Primary School. Prominent civil administration officials including those from the education department also attended the function.
Salotri and Nambal are two remote villages in Poonch district close to the Line of Control. The local Army unit, under an integrated plan to usher in modern education to the children of local Gujjar Bakarwals who mainly inhabit these villages, gifted of two computers each to the state government primary schools in these villages. The Army has also been distributing stationary and organizing biannual functions for these children.
The cemented all weather Basket Ball court with fiberglass boards, which was also inaugurated by the commander, being named as Major James Thomas, Kiriti Chakra Basket Ball Court. A friendship match was also organized between the Army Men and the locals of the villages.
