98 houses damaged in Doda during floods: Bhalla | Calling Attention | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 31: Minister for Revenue Bhalla today informed the Assembly that as per the reports received from Deputy Commissioner, Doda out of 98 houses, 31 fully and another 67 partially have got damaged due to the incidence of torrential rains/ floods during the months of February- March 2011. Incidence of rainfall is not notified as natural calamity in terms of the guidelines issued by the Government of India, providing therein for the admissibility of assistance which is to be provided to the families which get affected because of occurrence of notified natural calamities. Pertinent to mention that in respect of the losses caused due to occurrence of heavy rains resulting in floods, avalanches, cloud burst etc, the losses are assessed and after such assessment relief, as per the admissibility, shall be provided by Deputy Commissioner, Doda in favour of the eligible affected families who suffered losses because of notified natural calamities after ascertaining the cause of damage. Bhalla said that as regards damage caused to the public infrastructure, the details of the losses are being collected by the district Administration. In this regard the Deputy Commissioner, Doda has been advised to take up the matter regarding release of funds for effecting restoration of the damaged infrastructure with the respective Department.
