Judicial employees flay hike in legislators, minister’s salary | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Mar 31: Judicial Employees Association (JEA) Udhampur, in a meeting here today expressed anguish and concern over government decision to release arrears of enhanced salaries in favour of Legislators; Ministers from September 2009 in one go. Employees terming decision as autocratic and mockery of democracy alleged that one side whereas government has no money to pay arrears of employees and pensioners who are facing high inflation but on the other hand they release enhanced salaries in favor of legislators, ministers who were already getting in lakhs Meeting was chaired by Ranjit Singh; District President of union. He said that though in a democracy, government is for the people, of the people and by the people, but in J&K it is working for the interests and welfare of Ministers, Legislators and bureaucrats. He came down heavily upon state government and criticized government’s apathy towards its employees and pensioners. He said that 6th Pay Commission arrears were recently released in favour of all IAS/IFS/IPS officers but when it comes the turn of employees the Government gives the plea that it has no money for release of their arrears as the State is facing the financial crunch. Rafiq Ahmed and Krishan Lal Mathur said that that the civil servants who are serving in the state retire after the age of 60 years while the retirement age for the state Government employees has been fixed as 58 years and despite the repeated pleas the Government has failed to concede the demand regarding enhancement of age. Terming the decision unjustified, the meeting noted with great surprise that on one hand, government has miserably failed to ameliorate sufferings of its employees on the pretext of shortage of funds and on the other hand, lawmakers hiked their salaries and perks. Others who attended meeting included Joginder Singh, Gopal Gupta , Sahil Gupta , Krisan Lal , Vijay Sharma, Ratten Lal Pandita , Shadi Lal , Sewa Singh , Gopal Sharma jeet Singh , Raksha Devi and Sudershana Devi
